Knowing Which Colours Work for you

The first step in learning how to harness the power of colour is to get to know which colours work for you. Surprisingly, this is not as complicated as people may think. Whatever your skin tone, whether you're very fair or very dark, your undertones are what help determine which colours suit you. Undertones tend to fall into one of three categories: warm, cool and neutral. To determine which undertones you have, the easiest trick is to look at the veins in your forearms. Blue veins indicate cool undertones, green veins indicate warm and a blueish green indicates a more neutral undertone.

Jewellery Test

Another way to help determine your undertones is to take a metal watch or bracelet and hold it against your skin. Hold or wear something gold and something silver on your skin and get a feel for which one looks better. If you are warm toned, a gold watch should stand out as the best option. Cool tones should look better with silver. Neutral tones tend to look good with either!

Once you've determined your skin's undertone, you can start building a wardrobe that suits you!

Jeans & Trousers

A well fitting pair of jeans is an absolute must for every man. Straight leg jeans are the best option if you aren't sure what style to go for as they tend to suit just about everyone. As well as jeans you should have one pair of casual trousers and one pair of smart trousers in your best colours. This way you are prepared for almost any upcoming event, be it casual drinks with friends or a job interview.
