The Right Fabric Makes a Difference
Synthetic fabric and hot weather don’t mix… natural fabrics like cotton and linen are far more forgiving in the summer heat. Not only are these fabrics breathable, but moisture wicking too. The high permeability of these fabrics will help to keep you feeling cool and comfortable in hot and humid temperatures. Opt for light over dark colours as both linen and cotton absorb moisture and can cause sweat patches to be more visible but don’t worry, once the fabric absorbs moisture it effectively wicks it away allowing it to dry naturally, leaving you feeling dry and comfortable. Synthetic fabrics on the other hand like polyester and nylon can trap sweat and moisture against your skin, leaving you feeling uncomfortable and sticky.
Choose shirts, not t shirts.
Breezy, relaxed fits are best for staving off the summer heat but relaxed fit t shirts can be unflattering on larger figures. For a sophisticated look, choose a loose fitting linen or cotton button up. Short sleeved button ups are great for casual summer days as are long sleeved button ups with the sleeves slightly rolled up.
Go for fitted, not baggy Shorts
While football shorts and other styles of loose fitting shorts are super comfortable, they aren’t the most flattering garment a well fitting pair of tailored shorts on the other hand can be just as comfortable all while making you look put together.
Always wear aftershave
Believe it or not, a spritz of aftershave can make all the difference to how you feel and how you’re perceived by those around you. As well groomed man with a pleasant, masculine scent you will be able to walk around with confidence, even if you don’t feel your outfit checks all the boxes of the typical stylish guy. Choose a masculine fragrance with notes of classic summer scents like citrus and coconut for the perfect finishing touch to your new summer look.
Invest in a few key accessories
A few simple accessories can take a plain outfit and transform it into a chic ensemble. Invest in high quality pieces that can be paired with any summer outfit. This doesn’t mean you should splash the cash on the most expensive pair of sunnies you can afford, but it does mean you should be willing to spend that little bit more if you find a pair that really suits you.
